Northern Michigan Adds Mia Strazny of Manitowoc Manta Rays to Class of 2025
NEW COMMIT: Northern Michigan University has added yet another valuable addition to their lineup for the fall of 2021 after receiving a commitment from Mia Strazny of Manitowoc, Wisc.
She will suit up for the Wildcats as a member of the class of 2025 along with Jasper Bunker, Becca Harned, Becca Burrows, Cecilia Hagewood, Heidi Billings, Emma Clifford, Zoe DeKievit, Ella Houwers, and Faith Sill.
She told Swimming World:
“I am beyond excited to finally announce my commitment to swim and study at Northern Michigan University! Can’t wait to be a wildcat!”
Strazny does her club swimming with Manitowoc Manta Rays and last competed at the Iceberg YMCA Meet in February where her highest finish was a third-place showing in the 100 back. She earned five best times at the KMSC Pro-Am Classic last December and competed at YMCA Nationals in April 2018.
Her best times include:
- 50 free: 24.74
- 100 free: 54.04
- 100 back: 59.00
- 200 back: 2:07.55
- 100 fly: 57.93
Strazny will add valubale depth both individually and on relays when she arrives on campus at the start of the 2021-22 season. She’ll add her talents to training groups led by Michaela Nelson, Jules Engesser, Meritxell Font-Cantarero, and Skye Pineda.
Under head coach Heidi Voigt, the Wildcats won their seventh GLIAC Championship title in school history and their first since 2002.
