NC State Gets 2020 Verbal from Local Backstroke Standout Morgan Jones

NEW COMMIT: NC State has gained a new in-state verbal commitment for the 2020-21 season from Greensboro, North Carolina backstroker and current high school junior Morgan Jones.

Jones does her club swimming with Enfinity Aquatic Club and owns the Winter Juniors cut in both backstroke events. She raced four events and earned 100% lifetime bests at Juniors East last month and capped off a successful summer season with an eighth-place showing in the 200m back at NCSAs. Also competing for Greensboro Day School, Jones finished third in the 100 back and fifth in the 200 IM as a sophomore at the North Carolina 3A State Championships. She has also earned USA Swimming Scholastic All-American honors for her efforts.

She told Swimming World:

“I am so honored and excited to announce my verbal commitment to further my academic and swim career at NC State! Thank you to all of my coaches, friends, and family who have helped me get to where I am now. I can’t wait to be part of this amazing family!! Go PACK!!”

200 back – 2:00.59
100 free – 53.10
200 IM – 2:09.00

When she arrives in Raleigh, Jones will add her talents to a backstroke group that will include Kylee Alons and Emma Muzzy. Jones will also join Abby Arens as a member of NC State’s class of 2024.
