National High School Swimmers of the Year Announced in August Issue of Swimming World Magazine
PHOENIX, Arizona, July 11. IN August, Swimming World Magazine names its 14th and 15th Male and Female High School Swimmers of the Year.
The award first came into being in 1996 when our publication began naming an overall high school swimmer of the year with Shadow Mountain's Misty Hyman winning the award. The following year, Swimming World decided to name both a male (Covington Catholic's Nate Dusing) and female (Hyman) winner and has done so each year.
Meanwhile, senior writer John Lohn profiles dual star Chloe Sutton of Mission Viejo, while Emily Sampl looks into Paul Robinson's training for an English Channel swim.
In the SWIM section, Karlyn Pipes-Neilsen gives some pointers on how to create a strong, fast, sustainable kick, while Sampl returns with a Lane Leader profile on Traci Granger. Additionally, Stu Kahn of Davis Aquatic Masters provides a Workout Card.
Michael J. Stott chats with Calvin College's Dan Gelderloos in Swimming Technique, while the two look at how Emily Roberts and Maggie Vail train. Stott also looks at how to set goals. G. John Mullen provides some information on how to prevent shoulder pain in his latest column.
Jared Markham of the Greenwood Tiger Sharks is the latest National Age Group Setter to be profiled, while Palo Alto Stanford's Alex Liang was named the TYR Age Group Swimmer of the Month.
