Mountaineers Secure Verbal from Multi-Time YMCA National Finalist Logan McFadden
NEW COMMIT: The University of West Virginia has secured a new verbal commitment for the 2020-21 season from New Freedom, Penn. native Logan McFadden.
McFadden does his club swimming with York YMCA and most recently earned 100% best times at YMCA LCM Nationals this past summer where he recorded four top-5 finishes. At YMCA SCY Nationals in April, he registered three lifetime bests and had four finals appearances.
Also competing for Susquehannock High School, McFadden won the 200 free and was the runner-up in the 500 free at the YAIAA League Championships during his sophomore season. He also placed ninth in the 500 free and 11th in the 200 IM at the Pennsylvania 2A State Championships as a freshman.
He told Swimming World:
“I am beyond excited to announce my verbal commitment to continue my academic & athletic career at West Virginal University! Thank you to everybody who has helped me reach this point in my life. Let’s go Mountaineers!”
His best times include:
- 200 free – 1:39.73
- 500 free – 4:32.13
- 1000 free – 9:22.44
- 1650 free – 15:43.87
McFadden will be a valuable asset for the Mountaineers as his best times already rank near the top of their lineup and he’ll add some much-needed distance depth to their roster. He’ll also join Jared Carter and Joe Schaefer in Morgantown at the start of the 2020-21 season.

I know the fierce dedication and commitment this young man has displayed over many years, that has gotten Logan McFadden to this point. I watch, with anticipation, to see all that he can accomplish with the outstanding coaching and staff at WVU!
