Minnesota’s Sarah Bacon Wins 1m Diving Title

Minnesota’s Sarah Bacon won the 1m diving title on Thursday night at the 2018 NCAA Division I Women’s Swimming and Diving Championships with 343.55 points. Bacon finished ahead of South Carolina’s Julia Vincent (333.50) and Nevada’s Sharae Zheng (325.25).

Bacon was not far off of the NCAA record of 361.55 by Stanford’s Cassidy Krug from the 2007 NCAA’s that will stand for one more year.

Texas’ defending champion Alison Gibson (320.65) finished in fourth.

Arizona State’s Frida Kaellgren (313.10), Arizona’s Delaney Schnell (307.30), Tennessee’s Rachel Rubadue (302.30) and Northwestern’s Olivia Rosendahl (295.50) also competed in the championship final.

This is the Golden Gophers’ second 1m title as Bacon joins Kelci Bryant from 2011 as NCAA champions in the event for Minnesota.
