Minnesota Invitational Day 2 Prelims: Erica Sullivan, Kelly Pash Power Texas to Top Seeds
The Minnesota Invitational’s second day kicked off with prelims in the 500 freestyle, 200 IM and 50 freestyle.
The top eight advanced to the A final in each event.
Here is a look at what happened in prelims:
Minnesota Inviational: Women’s 500 Freestyle
Texas sophomore Erica Sullivan, an Olympic medalist, took the top seed in the women’s 500 freestyle. She dropped five seconds from her seed time to touch the wall in 4:41.66.
Cal senior Ayla Spitz took the second spot in 4:43.00, followed by fellow Cal senior Rachel Klinker (4:43.40) and Texas sophomore Olivia McMurray (4:44.16).

Minnesota Invitational: Men’s 500 Freestyle
No surprise here as Texas took the top four seeds in the men’s 500 freestyle. The Longhorns have long had a strong distance group, and this year is no different.
David Johnston took the top seed in the event in 4:13.54. Alec Enyeart was second at 4:14.21, followed by Carson Foster (4:15.97) and Luke Hobson (4:16.80).

Women’s 200 IM
Texas senior Kelly Pash led the field in the women’s 200 IM as the Longhorns took the top two seeds heading into finals.
Pash touched the wall in 1:55.76 to hold off teammate Olivia Bray (1:56.14).
Wisconsin junior Phoebe Bacon took the third seed in 1:56.34, while Cal’s Isabelle Stadden was fourth in 1:56.92.

Texas senior Braden Vines was more than a second ahead of the field in the prelims of the men’s 200 IM at the Minnesota Invitational. Vines touched the wall in 1:43.70, dropping five seconds from his seed time.
Minnesota junior Kaiser Neverman took the second spot in 1:4.533, followed by Texas freshman Spencer Aurnou-Rhees (1:45.51), Cal’s Destin Lasco (1:45.51), Arizona’s Ryan Purdy (1:45.57) and Texas’ Jake Foster (1:45.95).

Texas junior Grace Cooper took the top spot in the women’s 50 frostily. She was the only swimmer to go sub-22 in prelims and touched the wall in 21.89.
Teammate Bridget Semenuk took second in 22.21, followed by Pitt’s Sophie Wendell (22.34) and Cal’s Eloise Riley (22.34), who tied for the third seed.
