Michigan’s Upper Peninsula Won By Kingsford and Marquette

MARQUETTE, Michigan. March, 2. MICHIGAN recently competed its Upper Peninsula Championships on February 18 at Marquette Senior High School. The home team won the women's side of the meet with 336 points, but placed second on the men's to Kingsford High School with 291 points.

However the swims of the meet came from neither of the winning teams. Senior Luke Barry from Sault Blue Devils erased two meet and pool records from the books with his times in the 200 and 100 free. In the 200 he clocked in at 1:48.17 and then added a 49.19 in the 100.

Heather Norbert from Marquette set a meet record in the 100 fly with her 1:01.88 and also won the 200 free. The final relay from Marquette on the women's side also set a new pool and meet record. Marquette won the 400 free relay with a 3:51.31 effort.
