Michigan Breezes by Michigan State on Senior Day

Michigan competed in an unconventional-style meet with 50s of butterfly, backstroke and breaststroke and a 100 IM on Saturday and beat in-state rival Michigan State in the process.
The Wolverine men won every single event on the day. Jeremy Raisky, Jason Chen and Matt McNamara each won two events on the day for the Wolverines. McNamara was the breaststroker on the winning 400 medley relay team along with Pete Brumm, Dylan Bosch and Anders Nielsen. They won the race with a 3:14.89. McNamara then won the 50 breast at 25.77.
Chen started his Saturday with a win in the 50 back (22.20) and a win in the 100 IM (49.41). Raisky won the 50 butterfly (21.46) and was a member of the winning 200 free relay team. Kyle Dudzinski, Aaron Ghiglieri and Nielsen joined Raisky on the winning 200 free relay team. Michigan also won the 800 free relay with PJ Ransford, Nick Killeen, Kai Williams and Mokhtar Al-Yamani with a 6:37.94.
The Wolverines also claimed wins from Evan White in the 100 free (44.38), Dylan Bosch in the 500 (4:24.09), Luke Papendick in the 200 back (1:47.16), Paul Corbae in the 200 breast (2:06.19) and Aaron Whitaker in the 200 fly (1:50.54).
The Michigan women continued their impressive season with a win over the Spartans as well. The women also won every event on the day for the Wolverines.
Rose Bi continued her impressive freshman campaign with a win in the 800 free relay (7:28.82), the 400 IM (4:18.01) and anchored the winning 200 free relay team (1:33.99). Claudia Goswell, Celia Keany and Katie Duggan were on the 800 free relay winning team and Julia Fiks Salem, Goswell and Siobhan Haughey won the 200 free relay.
Clara Smiddy, Becca Postoll and Gillian Ryan also won two events on the day. Smiddy won the 50 back (25.50) and 100 IM (56.04). Postoll won the 100 free (51.22) and 200 back (2:00.53) and Ryan anchored the winning 400 medley relay (3:46.30) as well as the 200 fly (2:03.07). Joining Ryan on the 400 medley relay was Zoe Mattingly, Carolyn McCann and Marni Oldershaw.
Other event winners for Michigan on the day were Ali DeLoof in the 50 fly (24.92), Emily Kopas in the 50 breast (28.56), Duggan in the 500 (4:57.10) and Haughey in the 200 breast (2:14.24).
The Michigan men beat Michigan State 173-93 while the women won 180-81 and both teams are done competing until Big Tens.




“Rose Bi” is actually Chinese national tram member Bi Yirong and how she and compatriot Zhisi Li, a sprinter on Ohio State’s women’s team who is also a current and/or former China national team member and how they wound up @. Ann Arbor and Columbus, respectively, has to be the 9th Wonder of the World.
