Meet of the Week: UW-Oshkosh vs. UW-River Falls

RIVER FALLS, Wisconsin, October 19. IN the last of a Meet of the Week trilogy this weekend, host UW-River Falls splits its contests against UW-Oshkosh. The UWRF women upended Oshkosh, 137-134, in a tight battle. The Oshkosh men, however, came out on top with a 149-129 conquest of UWRF.
Danielle Mandich led the way for the River Falls' women with four titles by the end of the meet. She helped both relays walk away with triumphs. In the 200 medley relay, the team of Katie Zappa, Roxie Pingry, Victoria Jambretz and Mandich claimed the title in 2:00.44. Mandich then led off the 200 free relay squad of Mandich, Alyssa Adair, Jill Lambach and Zappa as the foursome garnered the win in 1:46.56.
In individual action, Mandich reigned supreme in the sprint events. She touched first in both the 50 free (25.95) and 100 free (58.02). Zappa, meanwhile, picked up three titles as she hit the wall first in the 200 free (2:05.69) along with both of her relay victories.
Several women for UWO pocketed a pair of titles. Lynne Krajco snagged wins in the 100 back (1:06.72) and 200 back (2:24.89), while Genesis Gruenke grabbed the crown in the 100 breast (1:16.26) and 200 breast (2:44.25). Sam Sommers also triumphed in the 100 fly (1:05.20) and 200 fly (2:28.60).
For the men, Justin Zangl led UWO to the win with a title trifecta. Zangl touched first in the 100 free (54.17), 200 free (2:00.58) and 500 free (5:48.88). Also, Jon Dudzinski won the 100 breast (1:07.75) and 50 free (24.07) for UWO as a multiple titlist.
Michael Brudzinski and Tyler Ormson each won three titles for UWRF. Brudzinski cruised in the 200 fly (2:25.43) and 200 breast (2:30.21), while Ormson led off the 200 free relay team of Ormson, David Johnson, Dan Blasberg and Thomas Mathewson that won in 1:38.13. He also led the 200 medley relay quartet of Ormson, Travis Dunnell, Sean Breneman and Blasberg that won in 1:50.82. Individually, Ormson touched first in the 100 back (1:03.97).
