Peru’s Mauricio Fiol Villanueva, who popped a positive test for the substance Stanozolol during the 2015 Pan American Games last summer, has been suspended for four years according to a release from FINA.

Fiol had already turned in a 52.25 in the 100-meter fly and a 1:55.15 in the 200-meter fly.  The time in the 200 fly had earned him a silver in the contest, which will now be forfeited to Canada’s Zack Chetrat.  Canada’s Alec Page, meanwhile, moves from fourth to third in the 200 fly.

Fiol was booted from the Pan American Games last summer after his positive test.

FINA Press Release:

The FINA Doping Panel decided according to the FINA DC Rule 10.2.1 to impose on the athlete a period of four (4) years’ ineligibility, starting on 12 July 2015 and ending at the conclusion of the 11 July 2019 for his first anti-doping rule violation.

Furthermore, the FINA Doping Panel decided that all results achieved by the athlete on or after 12 July 2015 shall be annulled together with the consequences thereof (forfeiture of medals/prizes, reimbursement of prize money).
