The second morning of swimming from the 2017 Speedo Junior Nationals featured six prelim events as Lucie Nordmann of Magnolia and Carson and Jake Foster were the stars of the morning. Nordmann is the top seed in the 200 back and the 100 free.
Carson Foster is the top seed in the 200 back while his brother Jake is the top seed in the 400 IM for tonight. Carson just missed the meet record in the 200 back as he broke 2:00 for the first time. Alexei Sancov and Olivia Carter are the other top seeds for tonight in the 100 free and 400 IM respectively.

Women’s 200 Back
Magnolia’s Lucie Nordmann swam the fastest time of the morning in the 200 back with a comfortable 2:11.57. Nordmann is ahead of SwimMAC’s Sinclair Larson (2:12.79) and Fort Collins’ Kylee Alons (2:14.86). Nordmann will be chasing the meet record held by Kylie Stewart at 2:09.04 from the 2013 Juniors.
Missoula’s Katharine Berkoff (2:14.95), Enfinity’s Olivia Carter (2:15.06), North Baltimore’s Lauren Poole (2:15.19), Beach Cities’ Alexandra Crisera (2:15.53) and Tide’s Callie Dickinson (2:15.64) will also swim in the A-final where the meet record could be challenged.

Men’s 200 Back
15-year-old Carson Foster of the Mason Manta Rays rattled the meet record in the 200 back on Wednesday morning at the Speedo Junior Nationals. Foster swam a 1:59.13 to just miss the meet record held by Alex Katz of 1:58.83 from 2013. Foster was the only swimmer under 2:00 as Nitro’s Shaine Casas (2:02.03) and Metro Atlanta’s Chris Thames (2:02.45) followed him in the heats.
Delware’s Jake Johnson (2:02.78), Academy Bullets’ Spencer Walker (2:02.83), Scarlet’s Johannes Calloni (2:02.89) and Billings’ Ethan Harder (2:03.16) will swim in the A-final. There will be a swim-off for eighth place between Will Grant and Jackson Cunningham who tied at 2:03.92.

Lucie Nordmann has the top time in the 100 free prelims for her second swim of the morning at the 2017 Speed Junior Nationals in East Meadow. Nordmann was the only swimmer under 56 seconds on Wednesday morning as she swam a 55.75 for the top seed. She leads a slew of 56’s with Socal’s Elise Garcia (56.08) and Carmel’s Kelly Pash (56.20) in tow.
Brea’s Kenisha Liu (56.25), Chelsea Piers’ Kate Douglass (56.32), Greater Tampa’s Morgan Tankersley (56.39), Carmel’s Trude Rothrock (56.41) and Beach Cities’ Alexandra Crisera (56.49) will also swim in the A-final.

Terrapins’ Alexei Sancov swam the fastest 100 free of the morning at the 2017 Speedo Junior Nationals with a 50.14 on Wednesday morning. He leads Nitro’s Shaine Casas (50.55) and Portland’s Sid Farber (50.63). Sancov’s seed time was faster than the meet record of 49.06 held by Vlad Morozov set in 2010. Sancov was seeded at 49.01 and could chase Morozov’s record.
North Texas’ Jack LeVant (50.75), Lakeside’s Alexander Zettle (51.09), Pleasantville’s Destin Lasco (51.09), Mississippi Mako’s Blaise Vera (51.17) and Boise YMCA’s Thomas Roark (51.27) will also swim in the A-final tonight.

Olivia Carter of Enfinity Aquatics won the 200 fly last night in a meet record time and came back Wednesday morning to swim the fastest 400 IM of the morning at the 2017 Speedo Junior Nationals in East Meadow, New York. Carter swam a 4:48.06 to be seeded ahead of Sandpipers’ Erica Sullivan (4:48.97). Metroplex’s Lindsay Looney (4:50.74) is the third seed for tonight.
Long Island’s Kristen Romano (4:51.27), Sandpipers’ Grace Siebmann (4:51.75), Aquazot’s Katie Glavinovich (4:51.78), Michigan Lakeshore’s Kathryn Ackerman (4:51.80) and Asphalt Green’s Isabel Gormley (4:52.32) will also swim in the A-final.

The Foster brothers are on point this week in East Meadow at the 2017 Speedo Junior Nationals as older brother Jake Foster swam the fastest 400 IM of the morning with a 4:20.78. Foster is just ahead of Pitchfork’s Jarod Arroyo (4:20.96) in tonight’s A-final. Jake’s younger brother Carson already won the 200 fly last night and is the top seed going into the 200 back tonight.
