Liberty Flames Light Up Class of 2025 Recruiting with Verbals from Butterflyers Emmy Gallion, Lauren Wilson

NEW COMMITS: Liberty University has received another set of verbal commitments for the 2021-22 season and beyond from Arlington, Va. native Emmy Gallion and Lauren Wilson of Olympia, Wash.

Both talented swimmers will join Grace Isaacs, Sydney StricklinMary-Ashlynne Gordon, and Kate Baker as a member of the Lady Flames’ class of 2025.

Under head coach Jake Shellenberger, Liberty clinched their third conference title in program history at the 2020 CCSA Championships.

Regarding her commitment, she said:

“I am so excited to announce that I will be continuing my academic and swimming career at Liberty University. I am very grateful to be able to have this opportunity to swim and study at such an amazing University that loves and values the uniqueness of their students. A big thank you to Coach Jake, Coach Jessica, and the team for being so welcoming. So excited to be a part of team with such a rich culture of success.”

Gallion swims year-round with Sea Devil Swimming and most recently won the 200m fly and earned bronze in the 200m free at the T2 Invitational in January. She recorded nine best times at the PMST Sport Fair Winter Classic in December and took 15th in the 200 fly at Christiansburg Sectionals in March 2019.

Her best times include:

  • 50 fly – 26.35
  • 100 fly – 56.23
  • 200 fly – 2:03.68
  • 200 IM – 2:05.14

Last summer, Gallion was the runner-up in the 200m fly at the Potomac Valley 13&O LCM Championships where she registered four new lifetime bests.

LAUREN WILSON

Regarding her commitment, she said:

“I am so excited to announce my commitment to swim and study at Liberty University! Thank you to Coach Jake, Coach Jessica, and the girls for their support and enthusiasm throughout the recruiting process and to all my family, friends, and coaches who have supported me along the way. I’m so excited to be a part of this amazing program for the next four years! ❤️?”

Wilson, who does her club swimming with University Place Aquatics Club, flew to 13th place in the 200 fly at Pacific Northwest Seniors in December and finaled in that event at the Husky Invitational. Last summer, she earned two best times at Mount Hood Sectionals and placed 24th in both the 100m fly and 200m IM at Pacific Northwest LCM Seniors.

Her best times include:

  • 50 fly – 26.63
  • 100 fly – 57.76
  • 200 fly – 2:09.22
  • 200 IM – 2:11.65

Also competing for Olympia High School, Wilson is a five-time Washington 4A State Championship finalist. She placed eighth in the 100 fly and 10th in the 200 IM as a junior while taking 13th in the 100 back and 14th in the 100 fly during her sophomore season.
