Leisel Jones Planning a Wedding
MELBOURNE, Australia, September 17. LEISEL Jones, the world-record holder in the 100 and 200 breaststrokes, is planning to wed Marty Pask, a former star of the Australian Football League. It shouldn't be surprising, considering Jones changed her training base to Melbourne to be closer to her future husband. The reigning world champion in the 100 and 200 breast events, Jones will chase her first individual Olympic gold at next summer's Games in Beijing.
As reported on April 24th of this year on this site, Leisel opted to shift her training base to Melbourne and parted ways with longtime coach Stephan Widmer. Jones joins countryman Grant Hackett in the move-to-Melbourne club.
By leaving Widmer, Jones cut loose the coach that led the breaststroke sensation to never-before-seen heights. Jones now trains with Carey Aquatics under Rohan Taylor, who guides the careers of Danni Miatke and Shayne Reese. Jones indicated at the time that she's looking for a renewed surge and that she and Widmer had no relationship issues.
