PHOENIX, Arizona, January 6, 2010. LEIGH Nugent has taken the reins as acting national team coach for Australia Swimming while Alan Thompson continues his leave of absence.
A story in the Herald Sun reports that Nugent's stint as acting head coach is indefinite as the investigation regarding "inappropriate behavior" involving Thompson continues.
Nugent, who was the head coach of the Australian Olympic swim team in 2004, is visiting the various state championships in Australia this month in the lead-up to the Commonwealth Games Trials, which will be held in March.
