Kaylee McKeown Headlines Psych Sheets for Australian World Championships Trials

While the U.S. National Championships are scheduled to begin Tuesday in Indianapolis, Australia will hold its trials for the World Championships from June 9-14 in Adelaide. The meet in South Australia will select the Dolphins’ roster for the World Champs in Singapore, with pool competition beginning in late July.

As is the case in the United States, several big names will be missing from the Aussie Champs, including Olympic champion Ariarne Titmus, who long ago announced she would bypass the premier global event of the 2025 campaign. Nonetheless, Australia is expected to construct a strong squad for the World Championships, one that will likely be headlined by Kaylee McKeown and Kyle Chalmers.

McKeown is entered in her signature backstroke events, with the 50 backstroke jumpstarting her program on the opening day of competition. There is a change to McKeown’s schedule, as she has opted to bypass the 200 individual medley, an event in which she won the bronze medal at last summer’s Olympic Games in Paris.

As for Chalmers, the three-time Olympic medalist in the 100 freestyle (champion in 2016) will contest his prime event on Day Four. Prior to the 100 free, Chalmers will race the 50 freestyle, an event in which he has looked sharp during 2025. Chalmers clocked 21.78 in early April at the Bergen Swim Festival.

Additionally, Mollie O’Callaghan is entered in five individual events, the 50 freestyle, 100 free and 200 free, along with the 50 backstroke and 100 backstroke. O’Callaghan is the reigning Olympic champion in the 200 freestyle.
