NEW COMMIT: The Ohio State University has received a new verbal commitment for the 2023-24 season and beyond from Junior National qualifier and in-stater Evan Blazer of Springfield, Ohio.

He will join Eli Stoll as a member of the Buckeyes’ Class of 2027.

He told Swimming World:

“I am thrilled and blessed to announce my commitment to The Ohio State University to continue my academic and swimming careers. I would like to thank my parents for all of their support, my coaches for always challenging me, and my teammates for encouraging me to be my best. I’d also like to thank Coach Dorenkott for giving me this amazing opportunity. I can’t wait to represent the Buckeyes in my next four years”

A talented sprinter, Blazer most recently competed at Junior Nationals in the 50m/100m/200 free, right after placing eighth in the 50m free at Geneva Futures. Back in March, he finished 10th in the 500 free and 23rd in the 200 free at YMCA Nationals. He also competed at Juniors East.

Blazer trains year-round with the Springfield Family YMCA.

His best times include:

  • 50 free – 21.15
  • 100 free – 45.88
  • 200 free – 1:41.46

A senior at Kenton Ridge High School, Blazer sprinted to fourth in both the 50 free and 100 free at the 2022 Ohio State Championships. As a sophomore, he placed sixth in the 100 free and seventh in the 200 free.
