Junior National Finalist Ryan Branon Verbally Commits to Texas for 2022

NEW COMMIT: The University of Texas has picked up their third early verbal commitment for their growing Class of 2026 from U.S. Open qualifier Ryan Branon of Baltimore, Md.

He will join Alec Filipovic and Holden Smith in Austin at the start of the 2022-23 season.

Regarding his commitment, she said:

“I am extremely excited and proud to announce my verbal commitment to further my swimming and academic career at The University of Texas! A special thank you to my family, coaches, and friends who all helped get me to this point. HOOK ‘EM”

Branon, who trains year-round with North Baltimore Aquatic Club, swept both fly events at both Maryland Seniors in February and the NBAC Christmas Invite in December. He most recently picked up a best time at the York Invite last month.

In Summer 2019, he raced three events at Junior Nationals where he placed 20th overall in the 200m fly.

His best times include:

  • 200 fly – 1:46.54
  • 100 fly – 48.46
  • 200 free – 1:39.41
  • 100 free – 45.36
  • 50 free – 21.18
  • 100 back – 49.74
  • 200 IM – 1:52.15

Currently a junior at Loyola Blakefield High School, Branon won the 100 fly and the 200 free as a sophomore at the National Catholic Swimming & Diving Championships. He has also earned USA Swimming Scholastic All-American honors for his efforts in the pool and in the classroom.

Under legendary head coach Eddie Reese, the Longhorns won their 24th Big 12 conference championship title last season.
