Italian Championships: Several Photo Finishes Highlight Session
TREVISO, Italy, July 19. THE fourth day of swimming at the Italian Championships held in Treviso provided several hotly-contested finales.
Caterina Giacchetti began the day with a victory in the women's 200 fly. She clocked a time of 2:10.67. Alessandro Terrin followed with a win in the men's 50 breast when he touched in 28.01.
The next title went to Giulia Fabbri when she hit the wall in 1:10.16 in the women's 100 breast, just beating Ombretta Plos and Silvia Rossi's second-place tying 1:10.26s.
In the men's 400 IM, Luca Marin walked away with the crown with a readout of 4:19.45, while Erika Ferraioli and Cristina Chiuso wowed the crowd in the women's 100 free when they shared gold with matching 56.11s.
Irene De Biasi posted the winning time in the women's 800 free with an 8:38.90 clocking, while Lorenzo Benatti snagged the men's 100 fly title in a touch-out triumph over teammate Stefano Iacobone, 53.84 to 53.98.
In another close call, Francesca Aceto downed Elisa Pasini, 2:18.70 to 2:18.92, in the women's 200 IM.
Gianfranco Meschini, Marco Belotti, Alex Di Giorgio and Nicola Cassio claimed the men's 800 free relay title in 7:21.39, while Renata Fabiola Spagnolo, Alice Carpanese, Silvia Copetta and Marialaura Simonetto snagged the women's 400 free relay in 3:47.61.
