Italian Championships: Roberta Ioppi Sets Italian Record in 1500 Free

LIVORNO, Italy, April 1. ROBERTA Ioppi opened the first night of the Italian Championships in style with an Italian record in the women's 1500 free.

Ioppi clocked a time of 16:28.02 to clip the 16:28.31 set by Rachele Bruni last December in Riccione. Bruni, meanwhile, placed a close second in the race with a 16:32.21. Both times are among the top 10 in the world this year.

In the only other swimming to start the meet, Francesco Zuccaro won the men's 800 free with a time of 8:02.49, while Luca Ferretti finished second in 8:04.52.
