NEW YORK, New York, July 20. EARLIER this week, the New York Times featured the Avidasports technology recently introduced to the swimming community.
According to the article, Avidasports' technology package can be compared to the technology used by a crew chief to monitor the progress of a stock car in NASCAR, and provide up to the second feedback to the driver. This same concept is available in the water with sensors being implemented into the pool and equipment worn by swimmers during training. It allows coaches to track swims in training, and provide immediate feedback to the swimmer while in the water.
"We hope this is a revolutionary system that will let us see all this data and know what they're doing in real time," Michigan men's head coach Mike Bottom told the Times. "That will give us a lot more info than just watching their stroke."
