Idaho State Champion Tyler Quarterman To Join Brother At Texas In 2024

NEW COMMIT: The University of Texas has added a new verbal commitment for its loaded freshman class for the 2024-25 season from Tyler Quarterman of Boise, Idaho.

His older brother, Nathan Quarterman, is currently a sophomore on the Longhorns’ roster, and the two will overlap for one season.

Regarding his commitment, he said:

“I am honored to announce my verbal commitment to swim and study at the University of Texas. I want to thank Coach Eddie and Coach Wyatt for the opportunity, and my friends, family, and Boise Y coaches for helping me reach this point. Hook’Em”

Quarterman does his club swimming with Boise YMCA and most recently earned four best times at YMCA Nationals where his highest finish was a third-place showing in the 400 IM. Back in December, he raced to 11th in the 200 back at Juniors West and finished eighth in the 200m back at Santa Clara Futures last summer.

His best times include:

  • 200 back – 1:45.76
  • 100 back – 49.48
  • 400 IM – 3:56.02
  • 200 IM – 1:50.18
  • 500 free – 4:41.32
  • 200 free – 1:43.26

Currently a junior at Boise High School, Quarterman won the 100 back and 200 free at the 2022 Idaho State Championships after placing first in the 100 fly and second in the 500 free as a sophomore. He helped his team win the 5A team title this past season, and broke the 5A state record in both the 200 medley relay and 400 free relay.

He will join Landon D’ArianoMax HatcherKyle PeckJeremy KellyLuke StibrichBrayden Taivassalo and Cooper Lucas as a member of the Longhorns’ Class of 2028.
