Taivassalo placed fifth in the 200m breast and sixth in the 100m breast at the Junior Pan Pac Championships this past summer. Back in April, he raced to seventh in the 50m breast, 17th in the 100m/200m breast and 18th in the 200m IM at Canadian Trials.
