Hoosiers Gain Two Class of 2025 Verbals from Brearna Crawford & Lindsay Flynn

NEW COMMITS: The Hoosiers have picked up two new verbal commitments for the 2021-22 season and beyond from Brearna Crawford of Whitford, New Zealand and Matthews, N.C. native Lindsay Flynn.

Both swimmers will join Kabria Chapman, Elyse HeiserAnna Peoplowski and Mariah Denigan in Bloomington as a member of Indiana’s class of 2025.

She told Swimming World:

“I am beyond excited to announce my verbal commitment to the University of Indiana! A very big thank you to Coach Ray @raylooze and Coach Emily @eatone11 for letting me become a part of your team! @indianaswimdive Thank you to my Coach Paul @pkswim_coach for all of your support and guidance of me throughout my swimming career. To my team, I love you guys so much and it has been such a privilege to be able to do what I love every day surrounded by some of the best people I know. A big thank you to @swimming_nz for all of your support and opportunities that you have given me. A very big thank you to my family and friends for always supporting me through the highs and lows, I wouldn’t be who and where I am today without you all. I’m so excited to become a part of the Hoosier family! Can’t wait for 2021!”

Primarily a breaststroker and IMer, Crawford trains with Waitakere Swimming Club and most recently had six top-5 finishes at the Victorian Age Group Championships in December. She earned eight gold medals at the New Zealand SCM Championships in October and earned 100% best times at New Zealand Age Groups last spring.

Her best times include:

  • 50m breast – 32.23 (28.26)
  • 100m breast – 1:09.98 (1:01.58)
  • 200m breast – 2:30.05 (2:13.24)
  • 200m IM – 2:18.36 (2:01.34)
  • 400m IM – 5:00.90 (4:23.58)

While representing New Zealand, Crawford raced four events at the 7th FINA World Junior Championships in Budapest.

LINDSAY FLYNN

A talented sprint freestyler, Flynn does her club swimming with Aquatic Team of Mecklenburg and owns the Olympic Trials cut in the 50m free. She most recently earned gold in the 50/100 free combo at North Carolina Seniors after racing to silver in both of those events at Juniors East. Last summer, she grabbed bronze in the 50m free at Junior Nationals.

Her best times include:

  • 50 free – 22.23
  • 100 free – 48.44
  • 50m free – 25.62
  • 100m free – 56.63

A current junior at Charlotte Latin High School, Flynn is a six-time NCISAA State Championship finalist. She won the 50 free and 100 free during her junior season while placing second and first, respectively, in those events during her sophomore season.
