Abby Andrusin has grown the Virginia Tech Class of 2021. The Hokies are already adding Tatum Hackler, Molly Sheffield, Heather Sigmon, Nicole Pape, and Emily Meilus next season.
Andrusin shared,
“I chose Virginia Tech because I felt it was the perfect fit for me academically and athletically! I had an awesome experience on my visit. I really bonded with the team, coaches and overall the university felt like home. I am very grateful that I get be part of such an amazing program and the Hokie Nation for the next 4 years!! GO HOKIES!!”
Andrusin is from Keller, Texas, where she trains with the North Texas Nadadores. She is a freestyler and backstroker. Her best short course times are:
- 50 Back 27.51
- 100 Back 56.85
- 200 Back 2:06.50
- 50 Free 24.36
- 100 Free 51.62
- 200 Free 1:54.94
Andrusin will have a great training group when she gets to Blacksburg next fall. Since 2015, she has taken a second and a half off her best 100 backstroke time and nearly a second from her 100 freestyle.
Andrusin is similar to Hackler in times in the 50 and 100 freestyle. Sigmon is also a backstroker who, for now, has the strongest 100 backstroke time (54.15) of the incoming bunch. Meilus, who committed early this summer, is also a great backstroker, with a stronger 200 than 100. The Hokies were fifth at the 2016 ACC Championship.
