Michigan’s Nicole Pape has announced her verbal commitment to Virginia Tech. Pape is an IM-er, with breaststroke being her strongest stroke.

Pape is from Rochester Hills, Michigan and swims for Oakland Live Y’ers. Her best times are:

  • 200/400 IM: 2:02.74/4:20.85
  • 100/200 BR: 1:03.75/2:18.05

She was the runner up in the 200 IM (2:05.01) and 100 fly (56.52) for Adams High School at last year’s Michigan Girls Division 2 State Championships. At the 2016 ACC Championships, Pape would have finished just outside the C final in all four of her best events. In the last year, she has dropped two seconds in her 400 IM and nearly a second in the 100 breaststroke. With continued improvement, Pape could enter scoring range by the time she arrives in Blacksburg.

She joins Emily Meilus and Heather Sigmon in the Class of 2021. Meilus and Sigmon are both backstrokers. Meilus is an in-state talent, while Sigmon will travel north for college from North Carolina.
