The Virginia Tech women have added another swimmer to the Class of 2021. Molly Sheffield has given her verbal commitment to join the Hokies. Sheffield, who trains with Poseidon Swimming Inc in Virginia is a strong butterflier, with ACC point scoring ability.

She told Swimming World, “I can’t wait to be apart of the incredible team and atmosphere and have the chance to work with the amazing coaching staff! I can’t wait to see what the next  years brings and Go Hokies!!”

Her best times are:

  • 50 Fly: 25.18
  • 100 Fly: 54.47
  • 200 Fly: 1:58.53

Swimming for Lee Davis High School, the USA Swimming Scholastic All-American is the defending Virginia 5A High School state champion in the 100 butterfly. Her short course season was highlighted by a fourth place finish in the 100 fly at NCSA Junior Nationals.

Virginia Tech was fifth at ACCs last season. At that meet, Sheffield’s best time would have placed her at the top of 200 fly B final. Sophomore Klaudia Naziebl (1:55.30) was runner up in the event. Sheffield would also be a C finalist in the 100 fly.

Heather Sigmon, Nicole Pape, and Emily Meilus will join her as members of the Hokie Class of 2021.
