PHOENIX, Arizona, February 6. GRAND Canyon University announced it is officially adding men's and women's water polo to its aquatics sports program. Women's water polo will begin in the Spring of 2009, and men's water polo will start the following school year in the fall of 2009.
In addition to the men's and women's swim program that began in 2007-08, Grand Canyon University, a growing Christian-based campus located in Phoenix, Ariz., has designs for a state-of-the-art aquatics facility.
Water polo coach German Lopez was an All-American collegiate and high school water polo athlete. His coaching experience extends to the collegiate and high school levels. He was the Coastal Zone Coach and the National Development Assistant Coach in the 2004-05 season. For the past few years, he has coached club water polo in Arizona and Southern California.
