Golden Gophers Collect Class of 2025 Verbals from Chris Morris, Bar Soloveychik

NEW COMMITS: The University of Minnesota has gained two new verbal commitments for their growing class of 2025 from in-state standout Chris Morris of St. Cloud, Minn. as well as Kiryat Motzkin, Israel native Bar Soloveychik.

Both swimmers will suit up for the Golden Gophers along with Jackson Brown, Andrew Garner, and Nathan Griffin at the start of the 2021-22 season.

Regarding his commitment, he said:

“I am so excited to officially announce my commitment to continue my athletic and academic careers at the University of Minnesota! I chose the U of M because of the incredible coaching staff, amazing team, and how well supported the athletes are. I would like to thank my friends, family, and coaches for supporting me and helping me get to this point in my career.  I can’t wait to be a gopher!! #SkiUMah”

A talented butterflyer, Morris does his club swimming with The Great Wolf Swim Team and owns four Winter Juniors standards. He most recently earned a trio of best times at Juniors West in December after finaling in four events at NCSAs last short course season. This past summer, he was a three-time finalist at NCSAs where he notched a trio of lifetime bests.

His best times include:

  • 50 fly – 22.80
  • 100 fly – 49.51
  • 200 fly – 1:50.62
  • 200 IM – 1:50.91
  • 400 IM – 3:56.41

BAR SOLOVEYCHIK

Regarding his commitment, he said:

“I am so excited to announce my verbal commitment to swim and study at the university of Minnesota. I chose Minnesota for the impressive facilities, the amazing coaching staff ,the team , the high level performance and the culture. I cant wait to get started !”

Primaily a freestyler, Soloveychik has represented the Israeli Swimming Federation on an international level. He raced four events at the Israeli Winter Championships in December after placing fourth in the 400m/1500m free and fifth in the 800m free at the Swim Cup Amsterdam. He also raced the 200m/400m free combo at the 2018 LEN European Junior Championships.

His best times include (LCM/SCY conversion):

  • 100m free – 51.64/45.08
  • 200m free – 1:51.21/1:37.30
  • 400m free – 3:53.94/4:20.84
  • 800m free – 8:08.00/9:04.12
  • 1500m free – 15:34.87/15:11.49
