NEW COMMIT: Georgia Tech University has received a new verbal commitment for the 2020-21 season from Wiggo Frohde of Stockholm, Sweden.

Frohde does his club swimming with Simklubben Neptun and has represented Sweden internationally. He has earned Swedish National titles in the 200m free, 400m free, and as a member of his team’s 4x200m free relay. He also recorded three best times at the Stockholm Open in April and raced the 200m/400m combo at European Juniors in 2018.

He told Swimming World:

“Super excited to announce my commitment to Georgia Tech! Thrilled of being able to combine a great swimming program together with a great education with such a great staff and team. Go Jackets!!”

In LCM, his best times include:

  • 100m free – 52.84
  • 200m free – 1:52.44
  • 400m free – 4:02.86

In SCY, those times convert to:

  • 100 free – 46.16
  • 200 free – 1:38.41
  • 500 free – 4:32.11

Although he’s just on the outskirts of scoring range at the ACC Championships, Frohde will be a valuable asset for the Yellow Jackets as they begin to rebuild their mid-distance freestyle group. He’ll also join Caleb Blischke, Sean McNicholl, Baturalp Ünlü and Nathan Hayes in Atlanta as members of the class of 2024.

If you have a commitment to share, please send a photo and quote via email to hs@swimmingworld.com.
