NEW COMMIT: Athens, Ga. native Tanner Schroer has given his verbal commitment to Delta State University as a member of the class of 2023. His twin brother, Tucker Schroer, has also pledged his commitment to the Statesmen.

Primarily a sprint freestyler and breaststroker, Schroer does his club swimming with the Summer Hill Orcas Swim Club under head coach Chip Holland. He most recently competed at Georgia Swimming’s Northeastern Divisional Championship where he recorded three best times and five top-20 finishes.

Also competing of Oconee County High School, Schroer is an nine-time Georgia State 1-5A High School Championship finalist. He capped off a successful high school career this past February with a gold medal in the 4×50 free relay and a ninth-place finish in the 100 free.

He told Swimming World:

“I am super excited to announce that I have verbally committed to Delta State University! Thank you to my parents, my coaches and everyone else who helped get me here. Go Statesmen! #OrcaUp”

His best times include:

  • 50 free – 22.04
  • 100 free – 49.00
  • 100 breast – 1:03.35
  • 100 back – 56.05
  • 100 fly – 55.52

Schroer will make an immediate impact when he suits up for the Statesmen for the upcoming 2019-20 season. He would’ve scored in the C-final of the 100 free and 100 back at the 2019 New South Conference Championships where Delta State earned the team title.
