NEW COMMIT: Athens, Ga. sprinter Tucker Schroer has given his verbal commitment to Delta State University as a member of the class of 2023.

Primarily a sprint freestyler, Schroer does his club swimming with the Summer Hill Orcas Swim Club under head coach Chip Holland. He most recently competed at Georgia Swimming’s Northeastern Divisional Championship where he recorded three best times with his highest finish being a second-place showing in the 100 fly. At the Southern Zone Championships this past summer, he won the 50m free for Team Georgia.

Also competing of Oconee County High School, Schroer is an 11-time Georgia State 1-5A High School Championship finalist. He capped off a successful high school career this past February with a gold medal in the 4×50 free relay and a runner-up finish in the 100 fly after placing third in the 50 free and fifth in the 100 free during his junior season.

He told Swimming World:

“I am excited to announce that I have verbally committed to Delta State University! Thank you to all the people that have helped me get where I am today! I can’t wait for the next four years! Go Statesmen! #OrcaUp”

His best times include:

  • 50 free – 21.14
  • 100 free – 46.34
  • 200 free – 1:44.87
  • 100 back – 52.01
  • 100 fly – 50.32

Schroer will make an immediate impact when he suits up for the Statesmen for the upcoming 2019-20 season. He would’ve scored in the B-final of the 50/100 free, 100 fly and 100 back at the 2019 New South Conference Championships where Delta State earned the team title.
