Georgia Secures In-State 2021 Verbal from Two-Time 1-3A State Champion Mitchell Norton

NEW COMMIT: The University of Georgia has received a new in-state verbal commitment from two-time Junior National qualifier Mitchell Norton of Acworth, Ga. He’ll join Henré Louw, Zach Kohm and Ryan Wylie in Athens as a member of the class of 2025.

Norton does his club swimming with the Marietta Marlins and capped off his long course season with five best times and five top-15 finishes at Georgia LCM Seniors. Last winter, he earned silver in the 50 free, 50 back, and 100 back at TYR Junior Nationals where he also secured bronze in the 100 free.

Regarding his commitment, he said:

“I’m so excited to announce my verbal commitment to study and swim at the University of Georgia! GO DAWGS!!”

His best times include:

  • 50 free – 21.54
  • 100 free – 45.75
  • 200 free – 1:40.38
  • 100 back – 50.60

In LCM, his best times include:

  • 50m free – 23.96
  • 100m free – 53.02
  • 200m free – 1:54.92
  • 100m back – 59.25

Also competing for Mount Paran Christian School, Norton is a four-time Georgia 1-3A State Championship finalist. He won the 200 free and grabbed silver in the 100 free during his sophomore season while taking first and third, respectively, in those events as a freshman.
