Georgia Picks Up Third Class of 2026 from U.S. Open Qualifier Heidi Stalkfleet

NEW COMMIT: U.S. Open qualifier Heidi Stalkfleet of Iowa City, Iowa, has pledged her verbal commitment to the University of Georgia beginning in the fall of 2022.

She will join in-state natives Elizabeth Isakson and Emma Norton as a member of the Bulldogs’ Class of 2026.

She told Swimming World:

“I am very excited and proud to announce my verbal commitment to continue my academic and swimming career at the University of Georgia! I want to thank my coaches, teammates, and family for helping me to reach this point. I can’t wait to be a part of such an accomplished program, GO DAWGS”

A talented distance freestyler, Stalkfleet trains year-round with Iowa Flyers Swim Club and raced the 800m free at the Toyota U.S. Open last month after winning the 1000 free and mile at Iowa Seniors back in February. She also finished seventh in the mile and 11th in the 500 free at Juniors East last December.

In Summer 2019, she posted a pair of top-8 finishes at Iowa LCM Seniors before going on to take sixth in the 800m free and 11th in the 400m free at Des Moines Futures.

Her best times include:

200 free – 1:50.30
500 free – 4:48.56
1000 free – 9:52.12
1650 free – 16:34.30
100 fly – 55.37

Currently a junior at Iowa City High School, Stalkfleet earned bronze in both the 100 fly and 500 free at the Iowa State Championships in 2020. The four-time school record holder has also earned USA Swimming Scholastic All-American honors for her efforts in the pool and in the classroom.

Georgia finished fourth overall in the team standings at the 2020 SEC Championships, just 1.5 points behind Kentucky.

The Bulldogs are also bringing in a large and talented Class of 2025 that includes Hailey Hicks, Angharad Evans, Ava Kennedy, Briana Roberson, Hailey Galbraith, Duné Coetzee, Mia Abruzzo, Lily Gardner, Mary Martin, Elsa Fretz and Rachel Stege.
