George Washington Opens Class of 2025 Recruiting with Verbals from Taylor Bernosky, Ava Deangelis

NEW COMMITS: Scottsdale, Az. native Taylor Bernosky and Ava Deangelis of Duxbury, Mass. have both pledged their verbal commitments to George Washington University beginning in the fall of 2021.

Both swimmers will suit up for the Colonials as a member of the class of 2025.

TAYLOR BERNOSKY

Regarding her commitment, she said:

“I am so excited to announce my verbal commitment to continue my academic and athletic careers at George Washington University! I want to thank my coaches, teammates, friends, and family for helping me get to this point! Raise High!!!”

A talented distance freestyler, Bernosky does her club swimming with Scottsdale Aquatic Club and is a Futures qualifier. She most recently secured the silver medal in the 500 free and bronze in the 1000 free at Arizona Seniors and registered three top-18 finishes at Des Moines Futures last summer.

Her best times include:

  • 500 free – 4:56.80
  • 1000 free – 10:07.71
  • 1650 free – 17.07.77

Also competing for Scottsdale Preparatory Academy, Bernosky is a six-time Arizona DIII State Championship finalist. She finished third in both the 200 free and 500 free as a junior while taking fourth and third, respectively, in those events during her sophomore season.

AVA DEANGELIS

Regarding her commitment, she said:

“I chose GW for its exceptional academics, competitive athletics, welcoming team and AMAZING coaching staff!!! As soon as I stepped on camps I fell in love with the school and city!!!! #raisehigh #godubs”

A strong breaststroker and IMer, Deangelis swims year-round with Kingfish Swimming and is also a Futures qualifier. She placed fourth in the 100 breast and fifth in the 200 breast at New England 15-18 Age Groups in March after placing second and third in those events at New England Seniors in December.

Her best times include:

  • 100 breast – 1:03.52
  • 200 breast – 2:19.47
  • 200 IM – 2:06.75

She had a great long course season last summer, finishing fifth in the 100m breast and 10th in the 200m breast at New England LCM Seniors before going on to take 12th in the shorter distance at Geneva Futures. Deangelis is also a rising senior at Duxbury High School.
