French International Meet: Second Night of Swims Conclude
SAINT RAPHAEL, France, February 28. THE second evening of long course meter competition took place at the French International Meet held in Saint Raphael.
Lara Grangeon opened the night with a winning time of 4:47.57 in the women's 400 IM, while Anthony Pannier followed with a victorious 4:22.75 in the men's 400 IM.
In the women's 200 fly, Aurore Mongel cruised to a win in a time of 2:09.51, while Clement Lefert held off Christophe Lebon, 1:58.55 to 1:59.29, for the men's 200 fly win.
In another runaway win, Alexianne Castel took the women's 200 back in 2:11.50, while Israel's Yakov Van Zurablov earned the men's 200 back title in 2:03.30.
Sophie De Ronchi won the women's 200 breast in 2:29.31, while Israel's Yuliya Banach set a national record with a second-place 2:30.56. That swim beat her preliminary record of 2:33.49, which in turn beat the 2:33.81 set by Anastasia Korotkov in 2007.
In one of the closest finishes of the evening, Tony De Pellegrini touched out Fabien Horth, 2:15.89 to 2:15.92, in the men's 200 breast.
The 200 frees concluded the evening. Coralie Balmy won the women's title over Camille Muffat, 1:58.15 to 1:59.90, while Alain Bernard held off Clement Lefert, 1:48.07 to 1:48.47, for the men's crown.
