CLEARWATER, Florida, March 2. RYAN Murphy, 12, who competes for Episcopal High and the AmberJax swim club, wiped out a pair of 11-12 National Age Group records in the United States at the Florida Swimming Senior Championships.
In a fourth-place finish in the 400-yard IM, he clocked a swift time of 4:12.76. That performance obliterated the previous record of 4:16.75 set by Gray Umbach last year.
He also nipped the 100-yard back record with a 12th-place time of 54.20. That time clipped the 54.25 set by Max Murphy in 2003.
Ryan had previously set the 200-yard back NAG record with a 1:57.34 last year.
