Florida Gulf Coast Gets Verbal Commitment from Dani D’Ambrosio of Somerset Valley YMCA
NEW COMMIT: Sprint freestyler Danielle “Dani” D’Ambrosio of Hillsborough, N.J. has announced her verbal commitment to Florida Gulf Coast University, giving the Eagles their first Class of 2025 pledge.
Regarding her commitment, she said:
“I am thrilled to announce my verbal commitment to continue my athletic and academic career at Florida Gulf Coast University. I want to thank my family, friends, and coaches for the constant support. I can’t wait for the next four??? go eagles!!”
D’Ambrosio does her club swimming with Somerset Valley YMCA and finished seventh in the 50 free and eighth in the 100 free at the EEX Holiday Classic in December. In summer 2019, she raced five events at YMCA LCM Nationals.
Her best times include:
- 50 free – 23.62
- 100 free – 51.70
- 200 free – 1:52.59
- 200 IM – 2:08.59
Also competing for Hillsborough High School, D’Ambrosio is a six-time New Jersey Meet of Champions finalist. She earned bronze in both the 50 free and 100 free as a junior while taking 11in in those events during her sophomore season. She also placed seventh in the 100 free and ninth in the 200 free in her rookie campaign.
D’Ambrosio is a big get for the Eagles both individually and on freestyle relays. She would’ve scored in the B-final of the 50/100/200 free as well as the 200 IM at the 2020 CCSA Championships where FGCU finished second in the team standings.
