Florida 3A State Champion Mitchell Ledford Gives 2023 Verbal Nod to NC State

NEW COMMIT: NC State University has received another verbal commitment for the 2023-24 season from Olympic Trials qualifier Mitchell Ledford of Sebastian, Florida.

He will join Sam Flack and Will Heck in Raleigh as a member of the Wolfpack’s Class of 2027.

Regarding his commitment, he said:

“I am so excited to announce my verbal commitment to further my swimming and academic career at NC State University! I want to thank God for giving me these opportunities and all the support from my family, coaches and friends. GO PACK!”

Ledford trains year-round with Treasure Coast Swimming and placed ninth in the 100m fly at Wave I of Olympic Trials this past summer before going on to earn silver in that event at the Speedo Summer East Championships. He won the 200m fly at the ISCA International Senior Cup back in the spring and was the 100m fly runner-up at Southern Zone Sectionals.

His best times include:

  • 100 fly – 46.96
  • 200 fly – 1:46.32
  • 100 free – 45.37
  • 200 free – 1:40.54
  • 200 IM – 1:50.06

Currently a junior at Sebastian River High School, Ledford is a six-time individual Florida 3A State Championship finalist and USA Swimming Scholastic All-American. He won the 100 fly and placed fourth in the 200 free in 2021 while taking third and 12th, respectively, in those events during his sophomore season.

Under head coach Braden Holloway, NC State finished second at the 2021 ACC Championships and eighth at the NCAA Championships.
