NEW COMMIT: NC State University has landed a new verbal commitment for the 2023-24 season and beyond from Junior National qualifier Sam Flack of Chattanooga, Tennessee.

He will join Will Heck in Raleigh as a member of the Wolfpack’s Class of 2027.

He told Swimming World:

“I am extremely excited to announce that I will be continuing my academic and athletic career at NC State! I would like to thank my family and friends for putting me in the situation that I am today. I can’t wait to join the NC State family! Go pack!!”

Flack, who trains with Baylor Swim Club, was the bronze medallist in the 200m fly, 400m IM, and 1500m free at the Southeastern Long Course Championships this past summer. Last winter, he recorded seven top-15 finishes at the Southeastern Senior Championships after winning both the 500 free and mile at the 18&U Winter Championships in Chattanooga.

His best times include:

  • 200 free – 1:43.68
  • 500 free – 4:26.80
  • 1650 free – 15:57.25

Currently a junior at the Baylor School, Flack is already a three-time Tennessee State Championship finalist. He won the 500 free and placed third in the 200 IM as a sophomore while taking third in the 500 free during his freshman season.

Under head coach Braden Holloway, NC State finished second at the 2021 ACC Championships and eighth at the NCAA Championships.
