DALLAS, Texas, June 14. SWISS 2001 World Championship 1500m silver medalist Flavia Rigamonti, whom many considered the favorite to win the event this summer, broke her right arm in a bicycle accident today as she was returning home from practice at Southern Methodist University. As a result, she has withdrawn from the World Championships in Barcelona.
Rigamonti, who won the 500 and 1650 yard freestyle events at this year's NCAA Championships, has the world's fastest time this year over 1500 meters. She was also considered to be a medal-contender in the 800 meters.
