October 1. POLISH Olympic and world champion and world record-holder Otylia Jedrzejczak, who was seriously injured in an auto accident earlier today, has been taken off the critical list and is described as "stable," according to informed sources in Poland.
Jedrzejczak, the first Polish woman to win Olympic gold in swimming, lost control of her car while driving with her brother on the highway between Warsaw and Plock. The car skidded, then hit a tree and her 19 year-old brother, Szymon, was killed. Jedrzejczak was taken to a hospital in Plock, about 60 miles from Warsaw.
