Five-Star Recruit Madison White Makes College Choice
DANVILLE, California, April 26. THE spring college signing season had a major commitment today, as a five-star recruit made her choice known via the Swimming World College Recruit Rankings system.
Madison White, a USA Swimming national youth team member based at the Crow Canyon Sharks in the San Francisco Bay Area, made a verbal commitment to attend UCLA for her collegiate career.
“I got that gut feeling, kind of butterflies in my stomach, when I stepped on campus,” White told Swimming World. “I absolutely love Cyndi (Gallagher, head coach), and she has been great with recruiting me. I like how the team is close to each other, and close to Cyndi, and that was really important.”
White currently holds a best time of 1:01.74 in the 100-meter backstroke, swum last summer. In short course yards, she has swum a 1:55.07 in the 200 back, which would have qualified her for the NCAA championships.
Madison was a finalist in the 200 backstroke at the 2011 summer and winter championships.
