FINA World Short Course Championships: Cesar Cielo Dominates 100 Free Semis

DUBAI, United Arab Emirates, December 18. BRAZIL's Cesar Cielo continued his strong meet with a meet record in the men's 100 free at the FINA World Short Course Championships.
Cielo checked in with a 46.01 for the top seed heading into finals. The swim beat the meet record of 46.62 set by Fabien Gilot earlier in the meet. Cielo has more room to improve today as he's been faster this year with a top-ranked 45.87 from the Jose Finkel Trophy Meet.
Gilot claimed the second seed with a time of 46.11 to improve upon his second-ranked season best of 46.48 set at the French Short Course Championships. Australia's Matthew Abood placed third overall in 46.61.
France's Alain Bernard (46.71), Sweden's Stefan Nystrand (46.75), Italy's Luca Dotto (46.93), Russia's Nikita Lobintsev (46.98) and USA's Nathan Adrian (46.99) also earned their way into the finale.
