FINA Announces World Cup Points Leaderboard After Berlin Stop
LAUSANNE, Switzerland, November 1. FINA released its World Cup Points Leaderboard today, taking into account points gained from the Berlin stop this weekend. Two more meets are on the ledger with meets in Moscow and Stockholm taking place this week.
Brazil's Thiago Pereira continued his march to the men's grand prix with a total of 113 points. South Africa's Darian Townsend sits second with 56 points, while teammate Roland Schoeman grabbed third with 40 points.
Longtime World Cup veteran Therese Alshammar of Sweden is on her way to the women's grand prize with 96 points. USA's Julia Smit sits second with 63 points, while The Netherlands' Hinkelien Schreuder owns third with 37 points.
The overall winners of the World Cup standings will win $100,000, while second place takes $50,000 and third place earns $30,000. Additionally, each race winner earns $1,500, while second takes $1,000 and third place takes $500.
