European Championships: Thomas Lurz, Ekaterina Seliverstova Win on Day One of Open Water

BUDAPEST, Hungary, August 4. THE first day of open water swimming at the European Championships featured the men's 10K and the women's 5K events.

Germany's Thomas Lurz captured the men's 10K with a time of 1:54:22.5, while Italy's Valerio Cleri claimed second place in 1:54:24.8. Russia's Evgeny Drattsev finished third overall in 1:54.26.6.

Russia's Ekaterina Seliverstova pocketed the women's 5K title in 1:02:34.7. Greece went 2-3 to complete the rest of the podium. Kalliopi Araouzou took second overall in 1:02:37.3, while Marianna Lymperta placed third in 1:02:41.3.
