Ella Cosgrove, Madison Kryger, Oliver Dawson Lead Canada World Juniors Squad
Swimming Canada on Wednesday named 26 swimmers to compete at the 2025 World Aquatics Junior Swimming Championships. Leading the way are Madison Kryger, Ella Cosgrove and Oliver Dawson, who also qualified for the World Championships.
World Juniors will be held Aug. 19-24 in Otopeni, Romania. It’s for swimmers born between 2007 and 2011, selected from Bell Canadian Trials.
The team includes 12 athletes who swam at Junior Pan Pacs last year, including the three who are doing both World Championships meets this year. The roster includes 15 girls and 11 boys.
“These two achievements show both depth and excellence at the world junior level. I would like to recognize the great work accomplished by our Canadian coaches in achieving this level of performance,” National Development Coach Ken McKinnon said in a press release. “The future is bright.”
Canada won two gold and 13 total medals at the 2023 World Junior Championships. The golds went to Alexanne Lepage, who has risen to the senior team. Fellow Junior Worlds individual medalists Ella Jansen and Lorne Wigginton will join her in Singapore.
Canada won two gold and 16 total medals at Junior Pan Pacs last year, fourth out of six nations on the medal table.
