NEW COMMIT: Mount Pleasant, S.C. native and high school junior Elysse Pardus has announced her verbal commitment to Auburn and will join the Tigers as a member of the class of 2024.

Pardus will also join Colby HurtMeghan LeeBrynn Curtis and Kensley Merritt at the start of the 2020-21 season.

Pardus swims year-round with South Carolina Swim Club and owns three Winter Juniors cuts with the U.S. Open standard in the 200 fly. She most recently competed at the TYR Pro Swim Series in Knoxville where she recorded a pair of top-16 finishes after placing 14th in the 200 fly at Juniors East in December. She raced a trio of events at Phillips 66 Nationals this past summer and was the runner-up in both fly events at Greensboro Speedo Sectionals last March. She is also a ten-time champion at the South Carolina SCY Championships over the past two seasons. Also competing for Porter Gaud School, Pardus has never lost an event at the South Carolina Independent School State Championships during her high school career.

She told Swimming World:

“I chose Auburn University because of the feeling of home I felt when I walked on campus. I fell in love with Auburn for the exceptional academics, resources for the student-athletes during college, and amazing networking opportunities after graduation. The team is determined, welcoming, and selfless and they all are such great and enthusiastic people. The coaching at Auburn is second to none and I am so excited to see what the future holds!”

Her best times include:

  • 50 fly – 26.11
  • 100 fly – 54.41
  • 200 fly – 1:59.38
  • 100 back – 55.74
  • 100 free – 50.92

Pardus is just outside of scoring range at the SEC Championships but still has 1.5 years of club swimming still to go before arriving on campus. She’ll add her talents to a butterfly group that’ll be led by Jewels Harris.
