NEW COMMIT: Auburn University has landed a new verbal commitment for the fall of 2020 from Timonium, Md. native Meghan Lee.

Lee swims year-round with Eagle Swim Team under head coach Scott Ward and owns four Winter Junior cuts with the U.S. Open standard in the 200 back. She earned a pair of lifetime bests at Winter Nationals last month where she finaled in the 200 back and capped off her long course season with a 16th-place showing in the 50m back at NCSAs. A current high school junior at Mcdonogh High School, Lee took sixth in the 200 back in a new personal best at NCSAs last March. She has also earned both NISCA and USA Swimming Scholastic All-American honors for her efforts.

She told Swimming World:

“I am honored and extremely grateful to be able to announce my verbal commitment to swim and continue my academic career at Auburn University! Thank you to my family, friends, and coaches for supporting me throughout this process and helping me make this opportunity possible. Can’t wait to be a tiger in 2020! WAR EAGLE! #WDE”

Her best times include:

  • 100 back – 54.75
  • 200 back – 1:56.88
  • 100 fly – 54.26
  • 200 fly – 2:00.28
  • 400 IM – 4:19.52

Even with 1.5 years of club swimming still to go before suiting up for the Tigers as a member of the class of 2024, Lee would’ve scored in the C-final of the 200 back at the 2018 SEC Championships. She’ll add her talents to a backstroke group that will include Sonnele OeztuerkAbigail Wilder and Ella Miller.
