Drury Sweeps Great Lakes Valley Conference Titles as League Records Fall

The 2025 Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) wasn’t decided until the last couple of events, but Drury claimed an exciting title and also won the women’s meet this weekend in Elhart, Ind., in a showdown of many of the top NCAA Division II programs.

Drury scored 1,770 points to hold off McKendree, which finished just behind with 1,734.5. Indy was third (1,407), followed by Missouri Science and Technology (844), Lewis (812.5), Missouri-St. Louis (602.5), Rockhurst (516), Quincy (417), William Jewell (408.5), Truman State (235) and Maryville (157).

Drury’s Israel Aavaleta won 3-meter diving with 616.25 points. Alvaro Zornoza Quiros won the 100 backstroke (46.43). Marwane Sebbata, Viktor Khnykin, Yuri Cabral and Lucas Mineur won the 200 free relay (1:18.47). Cabral won the 100 free (43.51).

McKendree’s Vova Gavrysh, Arthur Souza, Alireza Yavar and Tyson Upton won the 400-yard freestyle relay to close out the meet in 2:52.88, holding off Drury (2:53.47).

McKendree’s Leo Gandaria-Hernandez, Gavrysh, Souza and Yavari won the 800 free relay in 6:21.26 in a conference record. Gavrysh won the 200 free in 1:34.91.

Patryk Rozenek, Nojus Bertulis, Jack Lustig and Upton won the 400 medley relay in a meet-record 3:08.27. Lustig won the 100 butterfly (46.56) and 200 fly (1:42.32, meet record). Rozenek won the 200 back in a meet mark of 1:43.04.

Indy’s Cedric Buessing won the 1000 free in 8:54.39, a championship meet record, the 500 free in a meet mark of 4:16.15 and the 400 IM in a pool-record 3:46.40 plus the 1650 free in 15:07.27.

Indy’s Mattia Rossi, Brayden Cole, Oskar Sawicki and Aqeel Joseph won the 200 medley relay in a meet-record 1:24.88. Cole won the 100 breaststroke in a meet mark of 51.97. Jeremias Pock won the 200 breast in a pool-record 1:52.08 and the 200 IM in a meet-record 1:44.26.

Rockhurst’s Ali Usama won the 50 free in 19.78.

In the women’s meet, Drury claimed the conference championship with 1,996 points. Indianapolis was second with 1,921, followed by McKendree (1,180.5), Lewis (757), Missouri-St. Louis (738), Truman State (679), William Jewell (521), Rockhurst (500.5), Quincy (399) and Maryville (136).

Drury’s Belen Morales, Ashlyn Moore, Ellie Walker and Mellie Wijk won the 800 free relay in 7:17.90. Lexie Waller, Jonette Laegreid, Wijk and Moore won the 400 medley relay in 3:38.72.

Wijk won the 200 IM in a pool-record 1:58.00, leading a 1-2-3-5-7-8 finish for Drury. She also won the 100 butterfly (53.39) and 200 butterfly in a meet-record 1:56.69. Laegreid won the 100 breaststroke (1:00.73) and 200 breast in meet-record 2:09.28.

Indy’s Andrea Gomez Espinosa won the 1000 free in a meet-record 9:49.28, the 1650 free in a record 16:24.18 and 400 IM in a record 4:13.31. Kirabo Namutebi won the 50 free in a meet-record 22.48 and 100 free (49.92).

Namutebi teamed with Julia Magierowska, Megan Gregory and Andrea Paaske to win the 200 medley relay in a meet-record 1:39.42. Namutebi, Magierowska, Paaske and Isabelle Revstedt won the 200 free relay (1:31.32). Revstedt won the 100 backstroke (54.80).

Namutebi, Paaske, Caroline Reinke and Gomez Espinoza won the 400 free relay in 3:21.81.

Indy’s Alexis Lumaj won 1-meter diving with 470.30 points and 3-meter in a pool-record 521.05. Mia Krstevska won the 200 back (1:56.84).

McKendree’s Luiza Dias won the 200 free in 1:48.81.

Missouri-St. Louis freshman Justice Beard won the 500 free in a meet-record 4:50.42.
