Drexel vs. Le Salle
PHILADELPHIA, Pennsylvania, October 25. THE La Salle men's and women's swimming & diving team hosted the Drexel Dragons at Kirk Pool on Saturday afternoon. It was a successful day for the Explorers as the men cruised to a 162-138 victory and the women also won by a score of 211-85.
For La Salle, the men and women both won the 200-yard medley relay. Sophomore Dustin Gibb, senior David Ellerson, junior Matt Harner and senior Chris Cefalo picked up first place honors with a time of 1:36.69. Ellerson also went on to win first place in the men's 100-yard breaststroke (59.70).
In the women's 200-yard medley relay, sophomore Alex Stoddart, freshman Marci Wixted, senior Carrie Houck and sophomore Holly Biro contributed a first place standing for the Explorers (1:51.86). Biro and Stoddart both came in first and second place respectively in the women's 100-yard freestyle with Biro finishing at 53.74 and Stoddart following up at 56.03. Wixted finished in first (1:10.46) in the women's 100-yard breaststroke.
The Explorers achieved first and second place in the women's 1000-yard freestyle with the help of juniors Dana Reis (10:50.30) and Megan Reis (11:02.06).
Junior Shannon Duval finished first in both the women's 200-yard freestyle (1:55.50) and the women's 200-yard breaststroke (2:20.65) while freshman Andrew Gillespie finished first in the men's 100-yard backstroke (54.93).
The Explorers remain home for their next meet as they get set to host George Washington on Saturday, November 1 at 1:00 PM.
